Local lawmen battle it out on the rink to raise money for Courage Kenny Northland.

It’s the 9th Annual Lake Superior Lawmen 2 Day Hockey Classic.

It started Friday, March 20 at 11 and will go until Saturday 21st from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Twenty-four teams made up of police officers, firefighters and military members from all over the Midwest and Canada shot the puck in hopes to raise $10,000 for Courage Kenny Northland.

“It makes them feel like they are part of the community as well because you’re actually helping out somebody who is in need to have fun and have those benefits that most of us take for granted every day,” said Todd Kuusisto from the Duluth Police Department.

It’s an institute that offers sports and outdoor adventure programs to encourage an active lifestyle for those who have disabilities or autism.

Last year, they raised more than $50,000 to the charity in the last 5 years.

Over 260 lawmen are participating in this year’s tournament.
