Friday evening, a Hermantown native and St. Scholastic graduate, is preparing to embark on the journey of a lifetime to raise awareness for mental health.

David Romano was diagnosed with depression years ago.

Starting April 2, he will be biking from San Francisco to Washington, D.C., stopping along the way to tell his story to help de-stigmatize mental illness.

“I’ve been doing advocacy work since I was about 18 years old,” said Romano. “This is just another way to try to get that conversation started about mental health.”

His ride will take six weeks and conclude May 14.
