The North Shore Scenic Railroad might be getting a new stop in Knife River.
Railroad officials say they’re in talks with Lighthouse at Emily’s, a restaurant in Knife River, to buy the building and make it a destination.
Last year 78,000 people rode the train and to keep things fresh railroad officials say they need new stops.
“To sustain that kind of growth you need other opportunities for participation,” said General Manager of the North Shore Scenic Railroad, Ken Buehler. “We rode the train. We went to Lester River. We went to Two Harbors, but did you go to Knife River? That’s new this year.”
Thursday the railroad board of directors will hear the plan and decide on a timeline.
The new stop may be available this summer.
