Police Negotiators Convince Suspect to Surrender in Superior

Superior Police Make Arrest After Standoff

The Superior Police Department Emergency Response Team was activated to respond to a house in the 4400 block of E 1st St.

At 3:10 a.m., a woman called 911 from a nearby home and reported that she was battered by her boyfriend and had escaped from the house.

The victim believed her boyfriend may have armed himself with a handgun before she escaped from the house.

Patrol Officers formed a perimeter around the house until the Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiators could assemble and respond.

The Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiators were able to make contact with the suspect by phone.

The suspect exited the house and surrendered at about 7:15 a.m.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Douglas County Jail.

The investigation is on-going.

The Superior Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance were also staged nearby in support of the Police Department.
