Candidates for Duluth’s City Council keep coming in.

Wednesday a District 3 candidate had her campaign kick off.

Em Westerlund lives in Duluth’s Central Hillside neighborhood, and hopes to represent the district that includes Park Point, downtown, and the hillside.

The district is currently represented by long-time councilor Sharla Gardner who announced Tuesday she will not seek another term.

Westerlund says she hopes to help make investments in Duluth’s roads and infrastructure while bringing her passion for social justice and equity to the table.

“I really hope to make a positive contribution at the table and really represent my neighborhood and the neighborhoods of the folks who also live in the 3RD as an advocate for them and as a person who really loves this city,” said Westerlund.

The November 3 election will include votes for six Duluth City Councilors and a new mayor.
