People all over the country and right here in the Northland gathered to bring more awareness to the thousands of veterans suffering from ptsd.

The 4th annual Run as One event kicked off this weekend.

About 2 dozen locals showed their support by running, jogging or walking in the 5k along the Lakewalk in Canal Park.

Run as one is in honor of marine veteran Clay Hunt who took his life after suffering from PTSD and depression.

“We lose 22 veterans a day everyday so we need more awareness more fighting it,” Team Red, White and Blue Community Outreach Coordinator Buffy Moncel said. “Run as One is it’s not a race, it’s a 5k where we stick together. It’s no man left behind, it’s to help build camaraderie.”

Twenty-five other cities nationwide also participated in the event.
