Duluth Police: Man Acted in Self-Defense

Duluth police have decided not to charge a 53-year-old Duluth man for the death of a 33-year-old.

On Saturday, January 17th, 2015 Duluth Police responded to a medical call near 2nd Avenue West and 3rd Street.

Gold Cross Ambulance and Duluth Fire personnel were on scene and informed officers of a deceased man with a head injury.

The deceased male had been assaulted by an acquaintance.

The acquaintance was held on 2nd Degree Unintentional Homicide at the County Jail, but was later released pending further review of the case.

The St. Louis County Attorney’s Office reviewed this case and determined the man acted in self- defense that would be applicable to all possible charges.

This case has been closed by the Duluth Police Department.
