Standoff Suspect Apprehended in Itasca County

On April 8th, 2015 the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an assault involving a weapon in Arbo Township.

The Itasca County Sheriff’s Office, Thousand Lakes Tactical Team, Grand Rapids Police Department, with the cooperation of the St Louis County Swat Team, DNR, Grand Rapids Fire Department, and Med-s One Ambulance executed a search warrant in rural Wabana Township.

After the SWAT team used chemical agents at the residence the 56-year-old Wabana resident was taken into custody.

Seized in the warrant were several full loaded firearms and several thousand rounds of ammunition and drugs.
