The 22nd annual Empty Bowl preview event kicked off at the Depot Monday night.
People got their first pick of the hundreds of home-made decorated bowls.

All proceeds help the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank and its 44,000 people in need every year.

“We typically raise 60,000 for the Empty Bowl event — give or take a few thousand. So we are hoping to do that same for our 22-nd annual,” said Shaye Morris, the executive director of Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.

The Empty Bowl soup lunch is Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Duluth Depot.

Hand-crafted bowls are $20 and the soup from area chefs is free.
