A distracted driving safety event kicked off in the Miller Hill Mall.
Through hands on activities drivers got a feel for the possible dangers that lie ahead when they drive and text, eat or even operate a gps.
While some distracted driving is not considered illegal authorities are asking locals to eliminate their multitasking which could lead to other violations and even fatalities.
“With the spring weather we have with pedestrians and bicyclist out on the road we have to be 100 percent attentive of what we’re doing when we’re driving,” said Neil Dickenson with the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities advise turning your phone off while you’re driving or pulling over out of traffic if you have to multitask.
