The Wall of Heroes memorial was unveiled Thursday at St. Luke’s to pay tribute to nearly 700 organ, tissue and eye donors.

Family members and staff gathered to see the unveiling.

The memorial is 72-inches tall with a branch of 160 hand–cut, stained-glass leaves that grow out to represent the gift of renewed life.

“Working with organ donor families a lot of times they are impressed by the caring, compassionate process that they go through,” St. Luke’s ICU nurse Pete Boyechko said. “Organ donation I find that a lot of the families do find closure and peace.”

The memorial is on display on the second floor of the hospital.
