Community leaders gathered at the Greysolon Plaza Friday evening for the 6th annual Boys And Girls Clubs of The Northland Ball.

Last year, the organization served more than 60,000 meals, and provided hundreds of thousands of tutoring hours to children at after school programs.

“Four out of five of our kids are living in poverty, and what we’ve noticed is there’s a trend between kids living in poverty and sliding behind in school,” said Jeff Woolverton, Resource Development Director of The Boys and Girls Clubs. “With Boys and Girls Clubs being an afterschool program primarily, we’re able to keep those kids connected to programs.”

The ball is the group’s signature charity event.

Friday’s goal was to raise $100,000 for Northland children.
