Duluth Hiker Seriously Injured After Fall at Waterfall Canyon in UT
Duluth Hiker Badly Injured in Fall
A hiker from Duluth, Minnesota was flown out of Waterfall Canyon Sunday afternoon after falling about 40 feet while climbing the rocks with a co-worker.
The Standard Examiner reports 19-year-old Sophie Hillmeyer was with an AmeriCorps group when she climbed the rocks near the waterfall.
Lt. Brandon Toll with the Weber County Sheriff’s Office said that’s when the rocks came loose underfoot and she fell.
Rescuers moved her 150 yards to a clearer area so that she could be airlifted to McKay-Dee Hopsital, where she was listed in critical condition with injuries to her head, hip and left arm.
