The Duluth East Robotics team has made global history for their awesome talents.

This past weekend The Daredevils became the first–ever Minnesota team to finish 2nd in The World Championships.

The Daredevils traveled to St. Louis, where they competed against over 600 teams, and more than 40,000 students.

Their robot, named Ace, is 120 pounds and 72 inches tall.

Coach tells us his team came so close they could taste victory.

“Bringing back this trophy makes us hungry to want to get back there, because we know there’s a little space left,” said Coach Tim Velner.

Coach also says he is proud of the growth he has seen in his students over the years.

“To watch them get to that point of where they’re ready to spring out of here is wonderful because you watch them as a freshman and they’re undisciplined,” Velner added.

The Daredevils are ranked number 1 heading into states, where they will compete at Williams Arena in The Cities on May 16.
