Minn. Senate Staff Member Killed By Light Rail Train

A woman struck and killed by a light rail train in St. Paul was a longtime state Senate staff member.

Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk Thursday held a moment of silence for the victim, who he identified as Lynne M. Thomas, a Senate staffer for 28 years.

She was 59 years old.

Metro Transit spokesman Howie Padilla says the woman was crossing University Avenue when she was struck by a westbound Green Line train about 7:30 a.m.

Paramedics found her unconscious and administered CPR.

She was taken to Regions Hospital.

Padilla says she was pronounced dead about 11 a.m.
