If you didn’t know, poetry rocks at the Duluth Public Library.

Children got a chance to learn Thursday from Minnesota Book Award winner Laura Purdie Salas.

Together, they engaged in creative writing, reading and the possibilities of becoming an author.

“It really is very rewarding to have that kind of interaction between and author and the kids — and they can see this is something they can actually do that they can actually be an author someday,” said Heidi Harrison, with the Duluth Public Library.

Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund helped fund the workshop.
