DULUTH, Minn. – Some local kids were able to get a hands-on experience at Hartley Nature Center Saturday morning for the annual spring youth outdoor expo.

Youth ages 4-14 were given the opportunity to rotate between five stations to sample a variety of outdoor activities including trapping, banding birds, typing knots, archery, and much more.

“To find a sport or an activity that they enjoy so that they can have a lifelong appreciation for that activity and just for the environment itself, the outdoors and hopefully as they become involved and interested they’ll want to take care of it and be good stewards of the environment,” said Brett Amundson with Hartley Nature Center.

This is the ninth year the free event has been offered.
