Friday night, mountain bike enthusiasts gathered for a free movie Friday to help raise awareness and funds for the Duluth Mountain Bike Racing team.

The movie highlighted the positive effects high school mountain biking has on students.

The head coach of the team says Duluth is the perfect city to grow the sport.

“Having the trails that we have right in our urban setting, it fits right in with Mayor Ness’ goal of providing outdoor recreation,” Brian Hayden said.

The team will begin its third season this fall.

About 50 students are expected to participate.
