Duluth School Board also discussed whether to increase activity fees for students on free or reduced lunch.

The proposal was to have students who eat free lunch pay $25 and students on reduced lunch pay $50 – a $25 increase for both groups.

“Every other year our school district comes to us and says we need additional streams of revenue and this would be an opportunity for them to gain a little bit of revenue,” said Denfeld’s Activity Director Tom Pearson.

In general activity costs have risen in recent years, including transportation fees.

The school board decided to table the issue at Tuesday’s meeting.
