A Duluth teacher is being recognized for his work with race relations in the classroom.
Brandon Clokey co-teaches an elective for students at North Star Academy that deals directly with the topic.
The school held an assembly Wednesday afternoon applauding him for his tireless effort to give students a voice.
“To be able to have the ability to guide them down a healthy path as far as how they view themselves, how they view the rest of their community and what they need to do in situations of race that are pretty complicated. Even grown adults struggle talking about it,” said Clokey.
The class started in 2012 as a result of the Trayvon Martin case.
