Stolen Bus Recovered, Suspect on Loose

New information in the Northstar Baptist Church bus theft, authorities say the missing bus was recovered Friday evening.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s office they are still searching for suspect, Tyler Mains.

According to a news release authorities received a tip from a Superior resident saying Mains and the bus were parked in his driveway when he returned home Friday evening.

An individual known to the caller as Tyler Mains was with the bus and asked him if he could store it there. The caller told Mains he knew it was stolen because he saw it on the news.

Mains left with the bus when the caller told him he was calling the police.

A short time later, deputies located the bus on Rancon Rd in the town of Summit.

 Nobody was with the bus.

Personal items, including a wallet belonging to Tyler Mains, were found on the bus.

Deputies checked nearby residences but were unable to locate Mains.

He remains at large.
