Rick Springfield to Perform at Bayfront Park

Rick Springfield to Sing at Bayfront Park in July

The DECC is excited to announce that Australian musician, singer-songwriter Rick Springfield with special guests The Romantics and MYNX are coming to Bayfront Festival Park on Thursday July 9, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

A limited number of advanced $35.00 tickets will be on sale Friday June 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. until Tuesday June 30, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.

Tickets will go up to $45.00 starting on July 1, 2015.

For all of his accomplishments as an actor, best-selling author, and documentary subject, Rick Springfield’s first love has always been music.

With 25 million records sold, a Grammy® Award for his No. 1 smash-hit Jessie’s Girl, and whopping 17 Top-40 hits including Don’t Talk to Strangers, An Affair of the Heart, I’ve Done Everything for You, Love Somebody and Human Touch, Springfield has no intention of taking his foot off the accelerator. “I put everything I’ve got into making records,” he says. “Sometimes people think they have you pegged but I trust my music show them otherwise.”

In early 2013, Springfield collaborated with The Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl on the song, The Man That Never Was, for the Sound City soundtrack, Sound City: Real to Reel.

At the 2014 Grammy Awards the album won for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

In May 2014 Springfield’s first novel, Magnificent Vibration was released marking his second publication on the New York Times Bestsellers List and he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Currently, he is finishing production on the Tri-Star film Ricki And The Flash to be released in Summer 2015 and co-starring with Meryl Streep and Kevin Klein.

The Romantics burst out of Detroit with a power pop fervor, equally influenced by punk, new wave, garage rock and the British Invasion.

Led by lead singer Wally Palmar, the group’s self-titled 1980 debut album produced the massive hit, “What I Like About You” (http://www.vevo.com/watch/the-romantics/what-i-like-about-you/USSM20500686).

Their 1983 album, In Heat, was certified gold in both the U.S. (selling more than 500,000 copies) and Canada, yielding the Top Three Billboard single, “Talking in Your Sleep.”

The band MYNX is a true staple of Duluth’s 80?s rock & dance scene.

Entertaining crowds for more than 30 years, original band members Tammy Schmidt, Mark Schmidt, Cory Clay, Mark Connolly, Ed Esselstrom, and Dan Vaught show no signs of stopping now.

Reunited in 2010, MYNX continues to delight fans across the Northland.

They are well known as one of the most charitable local bands in our area…appearing at many fundraisers at no cost.

Don’t miss Rick Springfield, The Romantics and MYNX as we relive some of the best songs from the 80’s era.
