According to the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office, three people were found dead Saturday morning in Edgewater.

A 911 call came into the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office. around 11 a.m.

Before the signal was lost, a female caller said her son had shot her husband and set their home on fire, according to authorities.

911 systems showed the call originated from 1742 N. Knutson Road, a home belonging to the Werachowski family.

First responders from multiple agencies surrounding the rural town were dispatched and arrived to find the home fully ablaze.

The investigation is ongoing pending the results of autopsies.

By the time firefighters were able to extinguish the flames the home and attached three-car garage were destroyed.

The body of 41-year-old Eric Werachowski was discovered outside the home.

Police say Eric appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Inside the home, authorities found two bodies believed to be Werachowski’s parents, Richard, 62, and Marylin, 60.

Court documents show Eric Werachowski had problems with the law in the past.

According to Wisconsin public records, Eric Werachowski had previously been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol on four separate occasions.

In May, 2007 Werachowski pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge of operating a firearm while intoxicated, stemming from a 2006 arrest.

A felony charge of illegal weapon possession was dropped in the same case.

It is not known if alcohol played a role in Saturday’s horrific events, but a neighbor who asked not to appear on camera believed Eric was still having problems with substance abuse.

The same neighbor thought Eric was living with his parents because he was unable to find steady employment.

According to the neighbor, this was a point of contention for the family.
