Kids with the Boys and Girls Club of Superior spent their day celebrating Arbor Day Wednesday.

They helped plant a tree and Mayor Bruce Hagen made a proclamation.

It was also a chance for kids to learn more about the value of trees.

“We want the kids to know that a tree is more than just a tree. It’s really a part of our environment, and that Superior is a special place environmentally in the United States. It’s one of 100 designated tree cities,” said Tim Stratioti, branch director of the Boys and Girls Club of Superior.

Superior is obligated to observe Arbor Day in order to retain its Tree City USA designation.
