‘Take a Kid Fishing’ to Kick Off Saturday

Not everyone pulling in pan fish and blue gills in Minnesota this weekend is required to having a license to do so.

Take a Kid Fishing Weekend will kick off Saturday.

Minnesotans age 16 and older do not need a fishing license while taking a child 15 or younger fishing from June 6-7.

The initiative is all part of an effort to cultivate an appreciation for the outdoors and different activities Minnesota has to offer.

“They experience something new they haven’t done,” said Aaron Ramsey with Fisherman’s Corner. “You know you hook a young kid fishing and he usually becomes a fishermen for life or a fisherwoman for life.”
