Friday, Duluth remembered Art Von, the man who brought Little League to the city.

The Art Von Field at the Lake Park Little League fields raised a new sign dedicated to Von, who spent many years coaching and umping little league in Duluth.

Von passed away in 1994, but his legacy lives on through each and every game played on that grass.

“Every day, every day, he made me the person I am today and was a phenomenal mentor,” said Von’s daughter Laura Lokken. “The neatest thing was he was a mentor to so many people, and so much in the youth. I just wish he was here to see this.”

The Art Von Memorial Tournament is played every August, drawing teams from all across the country.
