Police Catch Stillwater Prison Escapee

Stillwater prison escapee, Patrick James Buswell, is back in custody at the Chippewa County Jail in Wisconsin.

The 40-year-old was apprehended by the Department of Corrections (DOC) Fugitive Apprehension Unit, the U.S. Marshals and the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation at 2:40 a.m. in Chippewa County.

He was found at a rural residence in the Holcombe area, through interviews with associates.

He is expected to face new criminal charges for escape in Minnesota and possible narcotics charges in Wisconsin.

Buswell had walked away from a minimum-security unit at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Stillwater on June 12.

He was a grounds crew worker and while working walked away from his crew and left institution grounds.

Buswell is serving a 60-month sentence for a weapons offense.

The DOC thanks the Bayport and Stillwater police departments; law enforcement from Washington, Polk, Sawyer, Washburn, Chippewa and Rusk counties; the U.S. Marshals; and the public and media for assistance in this search.
