Eden Prairie police officer shoots and wounds motorcyclist

(AP) – The Hennepin County sheriff’s office is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Eden Prairie.

A statement from the sheriff’s office says an Eden Prairie police officer began pursuing a fleeing motorcyclist about 3 a.m. Saturday.

It says the chase soon ended.

The Star Tribune reports that dispatch audio shows that the officer reported an accidental discharge of a weapon after the chase ended.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Lisa Kiava says they’re investigating that information.

The motorcyclist was wounded in his arm.

He was taken to a hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

The statement does not say what led to the chase.

The sheriff’s office took over the investigation at the request of the Eden Prairie Police Department.
