There are thousands of runners and walkers registered for varying events related to Grandma’s Marathon this weekend.
With that many runners, odds are someone will suffer an injury during the weekend.
Because of that more that 100 medical workers have volunteered to work the various aid stations and tents throughout the race course.
The main medical tent will be staffed by doctors, nurses, and physical therapists and is located just yards past the finish line.
Workers are prepping to treat conditions such as blisters, cramps, and exhaustion.
They are also preparing for the emergency care of events such as cardiac emergencies and heat strokes that sometime strike during long races.
According to volunteer coordinator Angie Brown, there have been two cardiac emergencies in the past four years.
