The Lake Superior Master Gardeners hosted a plant sale and educational event at the Douglas County Courthouse Thursday.

The sale will help raise money for the group’s horticultural outreach and education programs.

Organizers hoped for people to take away the experience of growing something.

“Being able to grow your own food, your own plants for beauty or for health does, it’s been proven to show that it creates a sense of calm, creates an awareness of your environment, and it’s a stimulation we need as people,” said Jane Anklam, agriculture and horticulture educator with the University of Wisconsin Douglas County Extension.

In the past, the group has donated funds to local gardens and food shelves.
