Thirty-six Girl Scouts toured the Twin Ports Thursday, learning about and experiencing the five modes of transportation.

Those are air, water, road, rail, and pipeline.

The event, put on by UWS students, included a ride on the scenic railroad and a tour of the William A. Irvin.

“It’s so stuck in their mind that transportation is a men’s industry, I guess, so maybe if we can convince them that they can get into transportation, they will see that they can do anything,” said Erica Hansen, a Transportation & Logistics Major at UWS.

Thursday marked the 77th anniversary of the William A. Irvin’s maiden voyage.
