Recreation and conservation of the St. Louis River western waterfront were the main topics of discussion at a citizens forum Monday.

The forum, Connect and Protect, was hosted by the McCabe Chapter of the Izaak Walton League.

Experts gave presentations highlighting natural assets of the river and gave people a chance to offer up their ideas.

“I think people are excited about the mayor’s vision for West Duluth and there’s a lot of different projects the city is proposing. Some really neat and interesting ideas, so I think people are excited about that and this is an opportunity for them to get involved,” said Rich Staffon, president of the McCabe Chapter of the Izaak Walton League.

The McCabe Chapter of the Izaak Walton League is an organization dedicated to involving and educating local citizens in the conservation of natural resources.
