Wednesday Ends Long Wait for Medical Marijuana Patients
Some Doctors Still Not on Board
Minnesota is officially in the medical marijuana business.
Wednesday brought on the start of the state’s new medical marijuana program.
Three Minnesota residents bought the first legal supplies of the new medicine shortly after midnight from a Minneapolis dispensary.
Patrick McClellan left with a small vaporizer he hopes will treat attacks of debilitating muscle spasms.
He says being able to buy medical marijuana is surreal after waiting more than a year since the Legislature legalized the drug.
But not all doctors are on board with the new program.
McClellan was one of just 65 residents who had received a physician’s signoff and registered with the state as of Friday.
