Controversial Duluth Methadone Clinic To Shut Down

Duluth’s controversial methadone clinic is closing its doors for good Sept. 1, according to the Human Services Department.

The Lake Superior Treatment Center on Central Entrance has been appealing the Human Service’s decision in 2012 to pull its license.

The state found dozens of serious violations with the treatment of clients suffering from addiction issues, like heroin.

The settlement to shut the Duluth facility down ends the court battle.

The Human Services Department is now working with Duluth’s Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment to secure services for about 200 Lake Superior Treatment Center clients.
