The attorney of a Superior woman who has filed a civil lawsuit against the City of Superior and three of its police officers is hoping for change.

Rick Gondick said his client, Natasha Lancour, is ready to move on with her life, but not without some compensation for what happened last year.

Lancour claims she was assaulted by Superior Police Officer George Gothner in January of 2014.

The lawsuit alleges Officer Gothner, Officer William Lear, and Sgt. Sean Holmgren violated Lancour’s 4th and 14th amendment rights during her arrest.

In the end, Gondick hopes the Superior Police Department will give officers additional training and better psychological screening.

“If we don’t do something about it, basically, we are just condoning this type of police behavior. It’s wrong and it needs to be changed and it needs to be addressed,” he said.

The city and police officers have a little over a month to respond to the lawsuit.
