Hermantown Police Warn of Phone Scam

A local Hermantown business called 911 to report they had received a phone call from someone stating they were contracted by the city to collect on an overdue water bill in the sum of around $1,100.

The caller said if this wasn’t taken care of they would be over and shut the water off in 2 hrs.

The caller also gave a lesser sum that could be paid to avoid shut off now. The scammer knew the address of the Public Works Department and gave that to try to convince the business they were legit.

The Hermantown Police Department is aware of another similar call like this to a neighboring community.

If anyone receives phone calls like this do not make any payment or give any financial payment.
