Developer No Longer Interested in Rockridge Site
Company Won't Develop School Site in Duluth
ISD 709 officials announced Tuesday that they have received notification from Schweiger Development, Holding & Management LLC to amend a purchase agreement for the Rockridge and Morgan Park school properties.
According to ISD 709 officials, the amendment terminates the Rockridge purchase and moves forward with a purchase agreement for the Morgan Park property.
Officials say budget planning for the next school year did not include the sale of either property and no budget adjustments are necessary.
In a letter to officials, SDH&M LLC representative Aaron Schweiger stated that they “spent considerable time determining the full development potential for the Rockridge School adjoining undeveloped land” and “we have now concluded the type of housing we wish to construct is not possible at that site.” The developer also stated in the letter, “We remain very interested and excited about the development of quality housing at the Morgan Park School site and wish to amend our agreement to purchase only that property.”
According to Business Services Director Bill Hanson, the Rockridge property will go back on the market.
