Sidewalk Days and Street Dances Start Wednesday

Superior Street to be Closed During Business Hours

Duluth Sidewalk Days and Street Dances kick off this Wednesday. 

The annual event brings businesses and restaurants outside for sidewalk sales and brings shoppers into downtown. 

Sales run Wednesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

A classic car show and Harley review will be held on Wednesday evening. 

Street dances will be held on Friday and Saturday. 

The Greater Downtown Council provided the following information related to street closures:

Superior Street from Lake Avenue to 5th Avenue West will be closed to all vehicle traffic Wednesday, July 8th through Friday July 10th from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.  NO PARKING will begin at 7:00 a.m. Vehicles will be tagged and are subject to tow.  During the Sidewalk Sales the avenues will remain open to traffic, with the following exceptions:

On Wednesday, July 8th, from 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. the Superior Street closure and NO PARKING will expand from 5th Avenue West to 3rd Avenue East to facilitate the Classic Car Show and Harley Revue.  During this time, all avenues will be closed to traffic EXCEPT 3rd Avenue East, Lake Avenue, and 5th Avenue West. 

Superior Street should be open to traffic by 9:00 p.m.

On Friday, July 10th, from 6:00 p.m. to 12 midnight,  1st Street between 1st  Avenue West and 2nd  Avenue West, and 3rd Avenue West  to 4th Avenue West will be barricaded and closed to any traffic and will be posted “No Parking After 5 P.M. ” for the Roscoe’s Pioneer and Aces Street Dances. Vehicles parked in violation will be tagged and subject to tow.

On Saturday, July 11th from 4:00 p.m. to 12 midnight, the 100 block of West Superior Street between 1st Avenue West to 2nd Avenue West will be barricaded to any traffic and posted “No Parking after 4 P.M.”  for the Dubh Linn’s Irish Pub Street Dance.  Vehicles parked in violation will be tagged and subject to tow.

DTA Buses and the Port Town Trolley will use Michigan Street to 3rd Avenue East,  and First Street to 5th Avenue West during the Wednesday through Friday Sidewalk Days Street closures.  Watch for posted NO PARKING signs for temporary bus stops on Michigan and 1st Street.

The Downtown Transit Center and Holiday Center Bus Stop will not be serviced by buses during Sidewalk Days street closures.  DTA customers are advised to transfer at the Duluth Public Library or Radisson bus stops for connections to other buses.
