St. Louis County is moving forward with expanding housing development opportunities in the area.

After receiving $689,188 from the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency, the County Board has decided to grant funding to the Forest Park Town homes Project in Hibbing where there is a great need for expansion.

“These folks deserve it just like anybody else.  They are working their tails off, they deserve to have an adequate 2 bedroom place rental with the possibility of a garage,” said St. Louis County Commissioner, Patrick Boyle.

The project costs $7 million and will house 32 units.

“There’s a lot of working families and moms and dads that are working 2-3 jobs just to try to make ends meet and there isn’t that adequate housing,” said Boyle.

The board also granted money towards the Pioneer apartments repair project in Cook.
