A new addiction treatment center is preparing to open its doors to as many as 400 people who are struggling with heroin or prescription drug problems.
ClearPath Clinic will open July 21 in the Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment building on Superior Street.
Clinic officials say they’re excited to start helping people turn their lives around, but they say the opioid problem has turned into an epidemic.
“Addiction is a very complex condition and there is no single treatment or single approach that’s effective with everyone at all times,” said Gary Olson, executive director of the Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment.
ClearPath will take a whole-patient approach to treatment by combining medications with counseling and behavior therapies.
The center will also be taking in clients from the troubled Lake Superior Treatment Center, which is closing Sept. 1.
