Friday afternoon, the U.S Coast Guard presented a silver lifesaving medal to Zoran Pedisic who risked his life to save another in November of 2013.

Pedisic, an employee of the Lake Superior Warehousing Company, saved Bill Showalter, who was 90-years-old when he had intentionally jumped into the water.

Pedisic dove into the water, grabbed Schowalter, swam to a pier and held him above water until help arrived.

Suffering from hypothermia, Pedisic stayed in the water until Schowalter was safe on shore.

Pedisic hopes everyone would jump to their feet when someone is in trouble.

“If you see somebody in trouble, help. Because when you’re driving and see someone that needs help, nobody stops. So, if you see somebody in trouble just stop and help,” said Pedisic.
