Two superior families getting ready to adopt newborns hosted a rummage sale Friday to help offset the high costs.

Domestic infant adoption can range anywhere between $30,000 and $45,000.

All items at the sale were donated from the community, with all of the proceeds getting evenly divided between the two families.

The parents say the outpouring of support is overwhelming.

“When we do get matched with a child and the baby comes home, we already know that there’s a large community that is here for our family,” said adopting parents Dave and Amy Lemaster.

“Nationwide there’s people who are on waiting lists, so it was very interesting and eye–opening to see that there’s babies out there that need homes,” explained Joanna and Shane McCotter.

The sale will continue Saturday at the Bayside Baptist Church in Superior from 8 AM through 3 PM.
