A solar powered facility that will hold 3.2 million servings of vegetables is making headway.
Food Farm in Wrenshall held an open house for their new root cellar project.
The earth shelter and storage facility will be used to keep winter vegetables in the off season.
“We’re really good at growing vegetables in the summer, not so good in the winter,” Food Farm owner Janaki Fishser-Merrit said. “Everybody likes to eat and we want to be able to supply as much local food. As much of the year as we can and this new building allows us to do that.”
The Food Farm has a Kickstarter campaign to raise $25,000 dollars to complete the project.
