EMT Volunteers Always Needed

Besides the need for volunteer firefighters, there’s also a strong need for paramedics and other EMTs across the 18,000 square miles of the Arrowhead region.
“You have to be able to deal with the sight of blood, obviously know the medical terminology; be able to hold yourself steady and calm during emergency situations. That requires a unique personality,” explained Brenda Monahan, with the Arrowhead EMS Association.
Roughly 80 percent of EMS services in the Arrowhead region are provides by volunteers, according to Monahan.
