A local organization helped repair the home of a longtime Lincoln Park resident.

Habitat for Humanity and the Duluth Rotary Club helped spruce up Janice Smith’s home.

Volunteers painted the foundation, fixed up the deck, weeded the garden and much more.

Smith has been in her home for 26 years but has struggled with much needed repairs because of her finances and health.

“I’m so happy to have this work done,” said Smith. “I’m crying because I’m happy. They’re just a good group of people willing to donate their time and doing such a great effort to help me with what I can’t do myself. I can’t say thank you enough to them for everything that they’re doing for me and for anybody else.”

The repairs were part of Habitats a Brush with Kindness program.

This summer they will help fix 15 other homes.
