148th Fighter Wing Marks a Significant Event
First Active Duty Airman Reports for Duty at 148th Fighter Wing
The first Air Force Active Associate Airman reported for duty at the 148th Fighter Wing on July 20, 2015.
The arrival of the active duty Airman (a native of Minnesota) marks a significant event for the 148th Fighter Wing, the Duluth Military Affairs Committee, the city of Duluth and the state of Minnesota.
“We’ve anticipated this since becoming an Active Associate Unit in 2012,” said 148th Fighter Wing Commander, Col. Frank Stokes. “This is a success for the Guard, the Air Force and the nation.”
The Active Associate Construct assigns active duty Airmen to an Air National Guard Unit and incorporates them into the unit’s mission.
The 148th Fighter Wing was selected to become an active associate unit based on its reputation for excellence and consistent community support.
