A city council candidate is kicking off an event to create a more positive relationship between police and the community.

Barri Love, who is now in the running to represent Duluth’s 3rd Council District will hold a three on three basketball tournament called “Take it to the Court.”

The Duluth Police along with other vendors will participate in the event.

Prizes and other fun will also be in store.

“I think it’s important that we know that there are good police officers out there, everyone’s not the bad guy,” said Love. “There are good citizens out there too as well. So we need to get people to bond and know each other on another level and have fun doing it.”

The free tournament will start this Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Sports Court on 8th and 4th Street.
