The Duluth art community is gearing up for its Art in Bayfront Park festival with an art tour this week.
The event’s featured artist, Kristi Abbott of St. Paul, stopped in Duluth Thursday to get the community excited about the upcoming festival in August.
She showcased a piece that is inspired by her childhood when she spent time near Lake Superior.
It incorporates papers from around the world to make a collage-style picture with a 3-D feel.
“Everything from the four seasons through some of the major attractions, the Aerial Lift Bridge, the light house. So, it’s kind of inspired by everything that represents Duluth to myself and many others.”
Art in Bayfront Park is free and runs August 15-16 beginning at 10 a.m. both days.
It will feature over 180 artists from across the U.S. and Canada.
