Friday, July 24th marks the 100th anniversary of the Eastland Disaster where the S.S Eastland sank and killed nearly 900 people.

In light of the anniversary, several gathered to honor those lost and those who work along the shores.

The Renegade Theater Company will now be putting on a production about a vessel that directors say played a huge part in the shipping industry.

“The Eastland Disaster was largely overshadowed by the Titanic and it’s sort of been forgotten in history and this show helps shine a light on a really important piece of history for the Great Lakes,” said Zeitgeist Art’s Creative Director, Andy Bennett.

The production will premiere August 6th at 8 p.m.

“When we first heard about the show we knew it was something we wanted to bring to this community.  We’re actually the 2nd professional production in history to do the show.  So, it’s a real honor that Looking Glass trusted us enough to produce it here locally,” said Zeitgeist Art’s Creative Director, Andy Bennett.
