As plans move forward to brighten up the St. Louis River Corridor, 14 parks will be enhanced, including Memorial Park on Grand Avenue in West Duluth.

Monday, people were invited to share ideas about the renovations, which right now include updated playgrounds, additional pathways, and more greenery.

“This park is unique because it is in the heart of the business district, and so it’s one of our most urban parks in Duluth. Many people interact with this park every day because they drive right by it,” explained Lisa Luokkala, Project Coordinator with the Duluth Parks and Recreation Division.

Memorial Park is one of four parks on Grand Avenue that’s receiving half a million dollars in investments from the half-and-half Tourism tax fund.
